Great news for skilled workers and international students! The Victoria Skilled Migration Program 2025–26 is officially open to applicants both in Victoria and overseas. This program offers a golden pathway to Australia Permanent Residency (PR) through the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
Program Allocation for 2025–26
The Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs has provided Victoria with a small interim allocation for this year’s program:
- 200 places – Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
- 180 places – Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
The full allocation for 2025–26 is expected to be announced soon. Applicants should keep an eye on official updates via the Live in Melbourne newsletter and the Skilled Migration Program page.
What About Existing ROIs?
If you have already submitted a Registration of Interest (ROI) and it is still active, you don’t need to reapply. Your application will remain valid for the 2025–26 program.
-
Submit a new ROI only if your information has changed (for example: new English test results, updated work experience, or qualification changes).
Pathways for New Applicants
New candidates can now apply under the following skilled visa streams:
- Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) – Provides direct Permanent Residency (PR) in Victoria.
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491) – A pathway to PR after living and working in regional Victoria for a set period.
To be considered, you must:
- Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect.
- Lodge a Registration of Interest (ROI) with the Victorian Government.
Why Choose Victoria for PR in 2025?
